Mother's Day

Mother's Day
This past weekend I spent most of the time telling stories and reminiscing on how amazing my mother truly is. I was feeling nostalgic and the thought of spending another Mother’s Day apart made me miss my mom more than usual. We often take for granted the time that we have in this earth with our loved ones. There’s something so special about a mother daughter bond. My mom is more than just my mom. She’s my best friend, my therapist, my dance partner, my stylist, my life line and I truly believe that she is my soulmate. As I sit here and write all of this, I realize it’s been awhile since I’ve actually told her how much I love and appreciate her. What I’ve learned from this past year is that we need to tell people just how we feel about them. Never pass up the chance to say “I love you” because tomorrow isn’t promised.

For those of you who grieved or felt pain this Sunday, I empathize with you. Having lost my father at such a young age, my mother was both a mother and a father to me. Father’s Day isn’t a day that I normally celebrate, but after this year, I’m taking on a new stance. I’m celebrating life and celebrating love. We shouldn’t wait for a certain day to acknowledge those special people in our lives. Spread love. Hug people you care about. Make sure they know that they are appreciated. Tell your friends and your family that you love them.

So mamita, here’s to you! You are my best friend and my other half. You mean the world to me and I love you!
